The bingo sector has announced that through the trade bodies CEJ and FEJBA, compensation will be collectively claimed from both the national government and those of the Autonomous Communities.
In this regard, through an official statement the sector confirms that the decision has been taken and is protected by article 116 of the Constitution, in relation to Organic Law 4/1981, of June 1st, on the alarm states, Exception and Site that, in its third article, section two, says the following:
"Those who as a consequence of the application of the acts and desirable provisions during the validity of these states suffer, directly or in their personnel, rights or property, damages or losses for acts that are not attributable to them, will have the right to be compensated from in accordance with the provisions of the law”.
Bingo representatives claim that with the large losses recorded in 2020 and numerous bingo halls on the verge of closing, pessimism has settled in this sector. Added to this scenario is the fact of not being listened by the administration, whose leaders have warned about the imminent end of the activity that contributes the most to the public coffers.
Regarding the substantive reasons to initiate the claim, the sector specifies that compensation is requested for the damage and loss of profits suffered in the bingo halls due to the closures decreed by both the State and Autonomous Administrations, based on health reasons, not always justified.
