During the second quarter of 2022, the International Gambling Integrity Association (IBIA) reported 88 cases of suspicious betting to the relevant authorities for further investigation.
According to the IBIA, the alerts come from 36 countries in eight different sports. Europe's 46 alerts represented 52% of the total reported in the second quarter, followed by Asia with 18 alerts representing 20%.
Football, tennis and horse racing accounted for 81% of all alerts in the second quarter. More specifically, football (32 alerts) and tennis (27 alerts) continue to dominate the number of alerts reported in the second quarter, along with horse racing (12 alerts).
Of the 27 tennis alerts, twelve matches were provided to the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) as intelligence reports as they do not relate to events sanctioned by major tennis tours.
However, the association ensures that some players involved in those events may fall within the scope of the body's Tennis Anti-Corruption Program (TACP).
