NOVOMATIC has reinforced its commitment to sustainability by inaugurating the Group’s largest photovoltaic system at its headquarters in Gumpoldskirchen, Lower Austria. In a ceremony attended by Lower Austrian State Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner, NOVOMATIC’s Executive Board, and Gumpoldskirchen’s Mayor Ferdinand Köck, the company showcased its 20,000 m² rooftop installation featuring over 4,600 solar panels.
Covering an area equivalent to three football fields, the PV system is expected to produce around two million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, enabling NOVOMATIC to meet a substantial portion of its yearly energy needs. This green electricity will support office and production facilities and the charging stations for the company’s fleet of e-vehicles. Other international NOVOMATIC subsidiaries in countries like Germany, Italy, Spain, Romania, and Australia have similarly adopted dedicated PV systems to power their operations.
State Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner praised the initiative: “Lower Austria is a leader in renewable energy efforts, with significant contributions to Austria’s wind and photovoltaic energy. Thanks to companies like NOVOMATIC, we are building a sustainable and green economic engine.”
NOVOMATIC’s Executive Board stated, “Completing the Group’s largest photovoltaic plant marks a key milestone in our sustainability strategy and underscores our commitment to a strong and efficient energy future. Long-term business success is only achievable through responsible actions.”
The new system enables NOVOMATIC to reduce its carbon footprint by more than 1,100 tons of CO2 per year, equivalent to the compensation of 90,500 trees. This is part of the Group’s broader ESG program, focusing on renewable energy, resource monitoring, and expanding e-mobility to permanently cut global CO2 emissions.
