The Secretariat of Awards and Betting of the Ministry of Finance (SPA-MF) convened a meeting with representatives from 14 states and the Federal District this Friday to discuss the establishment of the National Betting System (Sinapo), aiming to harmonize fixed-odds betting across the nation.
The meeting included participants from states like Minas Gerais, Paraíba, Paraná, and Rio de Janeiro, which already manage such betting operations. The purpose was to foster a productive dialogue for a unified betting system.
Regis Dudena, the Secretary of Awards and Betting, emphasized the importance of this collaboration: "Cooperation among the states is crucial to spread good practices and set standards that ensure responsible gaming and effective measures against corruption and money laundering."
The national betting system is a priority on the regulatory agenda of the SPA for the next two years. The final agenda, currently under public consultation, is expected to be officially published next week.
During the meeting, state representatives shared their experiences and challenges in betting regulation, with some states being advanced in their legislation while others are still assessing how to join this market.
Talita Feitosa, a representative from the government of Pará, remarked, "It is essential for all parties involved to dialogue and exchange information. A strong and unified system is crucial for the success of this initiative."
Concluding the meeting, Dudena thanked the state representatives for their participation and reaffirmed the commitment to continue this joint effort: "This is an initial step towards creating a solid and fair regulatory framework that protects both bettors and the popular economy. We will continue our dialogue to ensure that each entity can effectively contribute to this national endeavor."
