Gibraltar's Minister for Justice, Trade and Industry, Nigel Feetham, conducted an official visit to Abu Dhabi this week with the goal of strengthening the Rock's international presence and consolidating its position as a modern, connected, and future-oriented financial and commercial hub.

During the visit, Minister Feetham met with senior executives from leading companies and institutions in technology, digital finance, and international investment, including Finstreet, ADI Foundation, Sirius International Holding, Predict Street, and International Holding Company (IHC). The discussions focused on digital assets, financial technology, artificial intelligence, technological infrastructure, and global investment.

Throughout these meetings, Feetham highlighted Gibraltar's well-established strengths and presented ongoing ministerial initiatives aimed at driving innovation in critical areas such as artificial intelligence, tokenization, and next-generation digital finance. The objective is to position Gibraltar as a competitive jurisdiction in emerging financial markets.

These meetings align with the broader strategy of the Government of Gibraltar to strengthen relationships with international companies and innovators operating at the forefront of emerging technologies and financial markets.

A key highlight of the trip was Minister Feetham's opportunity to meet with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair during the visit. Blair showed a special interest in Feetham's work in Gibraltar, particularly regarding innovation and new technologies. They engaged in a conversation covering broader political issues and the EU-Gibraltar Treaty.

Reflecting on the visit, Minister Feetham stated: "Gibraltar must continue to look outward and engage directly with the businesses and investors who are shaping the world economy of the future. Abu Dhabi has positioned itself as a major international hub for innovation, investment, and digital finance, and I want Gibraltar to be part of those conversations."

Feetham emphasized that the Government's objective is clear: "To ensure that Gibraltar remains competitive, relevant, and visible on the international stage. We are a jurisdiction that embraces innovation and agility, creating opportunities for collaboration and long-term economic growth."

The Minister concluded that these international contacts serve to build solid relationships, understand where global markets are heading, and ensure that Gibraltar is well-positioned to attract investment, talent, and new business opportunities in sectors that are crucial to the future prosperity of the territory.
