The driving force behind the French National Platform and first president of the Copenhagen Group assumes a new international responsibility based in Strasbourg.
One of the most influential figures in the fight against the manipulation of sports competitions in Europe is starting a new professional chapter. Corentin Segalen, who until now served as head of institutional relations and sports integrity benchmark within the National Gaming Authority of France (ANJ), has joined the Council of Europe as head of the Programme against Sports Manipulations as of June 1, 2026.
His career in this field began on July 1, 2015, when he joined the former ARJEL (now ANJ) with a pioneering mission: to develop institutional relations and create a national platform to combat the manipulation of sports competitions. At that time, France lacked a specific structure, and there was no consolidated international model to rely on.
As a result of this work, the French National Platform was established on January 28, 2016, within the Ministry of Sports. Over the years, this initiative grew stronger until it was legally recognized by the French law of March 2, 2022.
Another decisive milestone occurred that same year. On July 7, 2016, the Copenhagen Group was established as the international network gathering national platforms dedicated to fighting sports manipulation. Segalen had the honor of becoming its first president, a position he held for four years.
During that period, alongside experts and authorities from numerous countries, he participated in creating the tools and standards that today form part of the international architecture protecting sports integrity. Notable among these are the alert systems known as yellow, orange, and red notifications, the so-called Logbook, monitoring levels, and various cooperation mechanisms currently used by 45 national platforms.
In addition to his work on sports integrity, Segalen was actively involved in strengthening the French regulatory framework for gaming, conducting awareness campaigns aimed at public officials, and institutionally defending the evolution of French regulation during ARJEL's transition into the current ANJ.
Among his most prominent initiatives is also the MotivAction project, the first Erasmus+ Sport program driven by and for national platforms dedicated to combating sports manipulation.
From now on, at the Council of Europe, Segalen will face a new professional phase with the objective of continuing to reinforce international cooperation against one of the main threats to the integrity of sports and regulated betting markets.
