The bar and restaurant sector is preparing to face the challenge of guaranteeing safety and health in each of the de-escalation phases established by the government, which together are the necessary steps to reach a ‘new reality’.
Phase 1 of the de-escalation is expected to start on May 11 in most of the country, although it begins on May 4 in Formentera, La Gomera, El Hierro and La Graciosa.
On Sunday, May 3, the Official State Bulletin (BOE) published the Conditions for the reopening of TERRACES for bar and restaurant establishments, which establish the following measures:
- Capacity of 50% of tables, with a minimum distance of 2 meters between them
- Maximum 10 clients per table or group of tables
- Menus on electronic devices or whiteboards only
- Elimination of napkin rings, toothpick holders, cruets, oil cans and other similar utensils, prioritizing disposable monodose
- Disposable tablecloths
- Promotion of card payment as a more secure means
- Permanent cleaning and disinfection of all areas and implements
- Hydroalcoholic gel dispensers for employees and customers
- Auxiliary elements of the service, such as crockery, glassware, cutlery or tablecloths, will be stored in closed rooms and, whenever possible, away from areas where customers and workers pass through.
- Employees must wear masks on a mandatory basis.
- A space must be enabled so that workers can change their clothes and shoes with social distancing measures
- In the event that a worker shows symptoms of COVID-19, they must leave their job and they will immediately contact the corresponding telephone number.
