We're bringing a whole new meaning to ‘stay in your bubble’.

Flares, fireworks, singalongs and mass gatherings outside iconic stadiums. All good ways for football fans to celebrate in normal times.

But, as we know, these are not normal times and with the season coming to a head, Paddy Power has stepped up to the plate, with the help of Peter Crouch, to inform footy fans of how they can celebrate together while remaining socially responsible.

Various teams will be celebrating this week, so we asked Peter Crouch to create the safest party in town...

With trophies being lifted aloft, relegations avoided, top four places cemented and CAS appeals being upheld all over the shop, the time is right to reveal Paddy’s simple guide to responsible celebrating.

The government has advised that we should stay in our bubbles, so we took that advice literally for this PSA – though some fans will have had their bubbles burst by the results of this season.

The first step is a thorough disinfecting of all entrants before the really clever bit. On arrival, fans were zipped into self-contained, two-metre high ‘human hamster balls’, to ensure they could celebrate as much as they liked, while still complying with the UK’s COVID-19 protection rules.

Additional precautions included fans being sprayed from top to bottom in disinfectant on entry to the pub by officials in hazmat suits, plus all drinks were consumed strictly within the confines of the giant, oxygen-filled, PVC bubbles.

You can scream and shout without fear of showering people around you with your potentially deadly spittle, have a beer or 10, or even let off a flare. Although, actually that doesn’t seem like the brightest idea. There’s always one, though.

And, seeing as we’re still paying him for doing very little, we forced Crouchy to squeeze into a bubble and he was the star guest at our innovative bash.

Paddy Power ambassador Peter Crouch said: “It’s only natural that football fans will want to celebrate their team’s success, especially if they’ve been waiting for a long time for it. But, clearly, it’s important that we’re all safe and responsible when doing so. I never expected to see myself in a human hamster ball – mainly because I wasn’t sure I’d fit – but it brings a whole new meaning to ‘stay in your bubble’.”

Paddy Power said: “We’ve developed a way to help supporters abide by the rules safely, since a minority struggled to keep their distance when the league was won a few weeks back. The government has advised that we should stay in our bubbles, so we took that advice literally for this PSA – though some fans will have had their bubbles burst by the results of this season.”
