A few days before the entry into force of the new regulation for online gambling in Germany, Cashpoint, a subsidiary of the Gauselmann Group, becomes the first company to receive a state license for the organization of sports betting. Thus, the German giant has published a press release in which it celebrates this license and reiterates its positive assessment of the new law.
On October 9, 2020, Cashpoint, a subsidiary of the Gauselmann Group, was the first company to receive the license from the Darmstadt Regional Council to organize online and land-based sports betting in Germany.
"We are very pleased to be the first to offer our betting program to clients with a state license," says Markus Ettlin, Head of Sports Betting within the Gauselmann Group. "After many years of legal limbo, the rules now apply to everyone in the German sports betting market."
Above all, this strengthens consumer and player protection. "Because now not only customers who are excited about games, but also politicians, authorities and society can differentiate between illegal and permitted providers," Ettlin continued.
The founder of the company and spokesman for the board, Paul Gauselmann, was also delighted with the granting of the license: “Already in 2014, my group of companies had met all the requirements in the first licensing procedure and emerged as the number one of the review of this extensive procedure. Unfortunately, it has been necessary until today to end this state of legal uncertainty. But I am very happy that we are finally the first to participate”.
“The future will show to what extent the state and responsible regulatory authorities will protect licensed market participants and therefore also consumers from illegal suppliers. In any case, we will do everything possible to ensure fair competition, which is ultimately in the interest of all consumers” says Markus Ettlin.
