The license stipulates that the state-concessioned locations will be operated under the Merkur Sun umbrella for an initial period of 15 years, starting from September 1, 2024.

Paul Gauselmann, founder and CEO of Gauselmann Group, expressed his joy at securing the casino license in the neighboring state of Lower Saxony. "To achieve this significant milestone in our company's history just two years after acquiring the North Rhine-Westphalian casinos is a source of great pride for all the responsible employees involved. It once again demonstrates our mastery of the 'high art' of gaming with and around money, handled responsibly," he said. "Now, in the fall of 2024, we will integrate the Lower Saxony casinos, with their approximately 400 employees, into our company and welcome them to the Merkur world."

The award of the casino license was influenced by Gauselmann Group's proven exemplary competence in casino operations. The company already operates 15 locations in the states of Saxony-Anhalt, North Rhine-Westphalia, Berlin, and Rhineland-Palatinate, showcasing its success. In addition to demonstrating economic performance and financial stability, the high quality of the operator concept was crucial for obtaining the casino license.

The granting of the casino license for Lower Saxony promises a bright future for both Gauselmann Group and the Lower Saxony casinos. David Schnabel, CEO of Merkur Spielbanken, remarked, "With the acquisition of the North Rhine-Westphalian casinos in 2021, we demonstrated our ability to realign the gaming and service offerings in record time, secure existing jobs, create new ones, and even increase their attractiveness. I am confident that we will also succeed in Lower Saxony, setting new standards and continuing our success story with the local casinos."

As a consistently exemplary casino operator, Gauselmann Group is fully aware of its societal responsibility in every respect. The company prioritizes the fulfillment of the politically and legally prescribed channeling mandate, which aims to guide gambling in an organized manner and provide a safe, legal gaming experience for enthusiasts. The successful operation of Merkur casinos, coupled with the conscientious implementation of youth and player protection measures, is evidenced by numerous certifications from recognized accreditation bodies. Both the Global Gambling Guidance Group (G4) and the European Casino Association (ECA) regularly confirm the quality and timeliness of Merkur Spielbanken's prevention measures.

A key factor in the success of Merkur Spielbanken is not only the impressive ambiance and highly trained staff but also the comprehensive and top-notch gaming and entertainment offerings. "We have continuously optimized our casino concept in recent years, always focused on the needs and desires of our players," explained David Schnabel. "Being able to perfect this concept soon in Lower Saxony together with the expertise of our new colleagues is a promising perspective and an important impetus for the future."
