The Ministry of Consumer Affairs sent a press release summarizing the content of the important meeting of the Responsible Gaming Advisory Council.
According to the note,
Garzón announces that the new draft royal decree on gaming and online betting will be submitted to public consultation from this week.
The Minister of Consumer Affairs, Alberto Garzón, today informed the members of the Responsible Gaming Advisory Council that this week the draft of the Royal Decree on safer online gaming environments will begin public consultation.
Garzón, who has opened the meeting of this body that brings together administrations, operators, academics and civil society, has indicated that the objective of the new rule is to establish the necessary measures to intensify self-protection and promote a responsible gaming environment.
Consequently, as Garzón has explained, the new royal decree will address all those action, intervention, control, prevention, awareness and repair measures to achieve an informed, responsible and safer offer of gambling activity.
"This comprehensive vision that will allow the process to be completed successfully, will require the collaboration of all agents," Garzón emphasized. The new royal decree is one of the regulatory objectives of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs for the year 2021 and will mean the regulatory development of article 8 of Law 13/2011, of May 27, on gambling regulation.
The new rule will reinforce the knowledge of the operators of its user base from the perspective of responsible or safer gaming. Likewise, it will extend the obligations of general information to the participants. Finally, it will propose existing safe or responsible gambling measures, with special attention to those who present risky behaviors, combining preventive, awareness-raising, intervention and control actions, as well as repairing the negative effects produced.
