When analyzing the data in the report and comparing them with the official figures for online gaming in Spain, the great growth registered in Portugal is striking, compared to the modest increase of 2.8% in the same period last year according to data from the General Directorate for the Regulation of Gambling (DGOJ).
Other figures highlighted in the report for the third quarter of online gambling in Portugal are the following:
- New registered customers increased 5.2% year-on-year to 156,800
- Quarterly active customers increased more than a third to 473,200.
- Sports betting generated the record income of 42.5 million euros
- Online casinos brought in 41.7 million euros, almost 48% more than in the same period in 2019.
- 44.7% of users gambled exclusively on sports, 33.4% participated in casino games and 22% played both parties.
- Online casino market distribution: slots over 70%, roulette 13.8%, blackjack 6.1%, cash poker 4.8% and tournaments 1.9%.
On the other hand, the volume of bets almost doubled the income of 2019 and reached 222.8 million euros.
