Online betting operator Bwin will be the main sponsor of the Portuguese national football league, which will be renamed Liga Bwin next season.
In the race to obtain the sponsorship of the Portugal League was also Betano, a company that after receiving the verdict of the representatives of the league have questioned the selection process.
In this regard, Panos Konstantopoulos, marketing manager of Kaizen Gaming International, owner of the Betano brand, has sent a letter to the League's clubs explaining the process carried out:
“We have recently been involved in intense and in-depth discussions with representatives of the Portugal League regarding the League's naming rights for the next four years and, after extensive and detailed communications, on March 3rd we were informed that our offer of 22 million of euros met the requirements for the naming sponsor category and, therefore, has been accepted ”.
Later, on April 6, the company received another communication from the representatives of the Portugal League, "who informed us that, despite having had discussions with us since September 2020 and having agreed on our commercial proposal in March and drafting a Memorandum of Understanding, they could not proceed with the negotiated and finalized agreement, because, supposedly, another company has activated a contractual clause for the sponsorship of the naming of the contest ”.
Likewise, Konstantopoulos has ensured that there was even a draft memorandum of understanding and they will be able to activate "all the legal rights and interests that undoubtedly arise from the agreement negotiated with the Portugal League and the behavior of its representatives."
