The Gauselmann Group has finalized the acquisition process of the four Westspiel Casinos in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) after one year of the privatization announcement.
The deal, which closed for € 141.8 million, gives Gauselmann a 15-year monopoly on land-based games in the region. In this regard, in addition to the casinos in Duisburg, Dortmund, Aachen and Bad Oeynhausen the operator will have the option of opening two other establishments.
It should be noted that after winning the privatization tender in July Gauselmann signed a WestSpiel purchase agreement which was approved by the relevant competition authorities and allowed to go ahead from 1st September.
On this important acquisition, Paul Gauselmann, founder, and CEO of the Gauselmann Group, said: “We look forward to welcoming the new employees to our company. Together we will make the casinos in North Rhine-Westphalia even more successful”.
Along the same lines, David Schnabel, managing director of Merkur Spielbanken, highlighted that they have been working on integrating the casinos into the group and informs that they have planned welcome events for new members at the training center in Schloss Benkhausen.
