Asensi Abogados founder and managing partner Santiago Asensi addressed a session of the International Association of Gaming Advisors (IAGA) in London in February. Asensi's presentation was part of a workshop on match fixing in sport and the impact on sports betting and gaming.
He took up the theme of fraudulent behaviour among players pointing out that this kind of criminal activity was causing reputational damage to both sport and gaming as well as leading to a significant economic impact on the industry.
IAGA's educational session was held during ICE London 2023, Europe's largest gaming show. Asensi's presentation was preceded by a keynote address from Khalid Ali, the Chief Executive Officer for the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA). Both presentations were then discuseed by Dr. Brett Abarbanel, of University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV), Peter Cohen, Director of Regulatory Affairs, The Agenda Group, Sportsradar's Tom Mace and Lorraine Pearman of Evolve Sports Integrity.
