The SPA-MF has conducted extensive monitoring, initially identifying 2,040 suspicious domains that will be taken offline nationwide. The National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) has been notified to proceed with the blocking of these sites, which operate without complying with the established regulations under Brazilian law.

So far, 96 companies have been authorized to continue operating until the end of this year, representing a total of 210 betting sites that meet legal requirements. Those wishing to remain in the regulated market, which will take effect on January 1, 2025, will need to pay a licensing fee of 30 million reais and adhere to strict regulations to prevent fraud and money laundering.

Finance Minister Fernando Haddad stated that the implementation of this measure marks the effective commencement of the law as approved by the National Congress. "Those who are not regularized will not be able to continue operating," explained Haddad, urging companies to submit the necessary documentation to obtain permanent authorization.

The SPA has emphasized that the safety of bettors is its priority, and only companies that comply with regulations will guarantee the protection of user rights. The Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Dario Durigan, highlighted the importance of betting in a regulated environment, as doing so on illegal sites exposes bettors to significant risks.

Additionally, continuous monitoring of betting houses in the trial period will be implemented to ensure compliance with all current laws. Companies that do not adhere to these regulations risk losing their operating licenses.

Anatel's president, Carlos Baigorri, indicated that the blocking process will depend on the actions taken by telecommunications companies, assuring that the effectiveness of shutting down these illegal sites will be monitored.

With this action, the Brazilian government is committed to regulating the online betting sector, promoting a safe environment for bettors and combating the illegality that affects the country's economy.
