In an exclusive interview with Infoplay, Enrique Reyes, Managing Director of Ceuta Tax Services, reveals the advances and opportunities offered by the autonomous city as a strategic destination for the online gaming sector. After its successful participation in ICE Barcelona 2025, Ceuta is positioned as a benchmark in the sector, thanks to its tax advantages, its business ecosystem and institutional support.
Jacqueline Mecinas: With the next edition of ICE in Barcelona, what progress has Ceuta made at this event in recent years?
Enrique Reyes: This is the first year that ICE is being held in Barcelona, previously it was based in London. At ICE 2019, Ceuta was presented for the first time with the aim of publicising the advantages that our city offers for online gaming. It was amazing the reception and also the challenge of explaining our location and the tax advantages we provide. Since then, we have seen a steady growth in the perception of Ceuta as a strategic destination for gaming companies.
Jacqueline Mecinas: How has ICE's presence in Spain helped to strengthen Ceuta as a strategic destination?
Enrique Reyes: Since our first participation in 2019, ICE has been the catalyst for large multinationals to see Ceuta as an alternative to Malta for companies operating in the Spanish market.
We have seen a domino effect; more than 40% of these companies are now based in Ceuta, with more than 52% of DGOJ licences belonging to companies located in our city, creating more than a thousand jobs.
Jacqueline Mecinas: Why do you consider Ceuta to be the ideal place to invest in the gaming and betting sector?
Enrique Reyes: The main advantages are fiscal;
we offer a 50% reduction in Corporate Tax and rebates in Social Security and IRPF. These benefits, together with the proactive support of the Government of Ceuta to facilitate the relocation of companies and the appropriate training of workers, make Ceuta an attractive place for investment.
Jacqueline Mecinas: What opportunities does Ceuta offer to companies visiting your stand at ICE 2025?
Enrique Reyes: Beyond the tax advantages, we want our stand to serve as a meeting point for companies to make arrangements and establish contacts. Our aim is to create an environment conducive to networking and business development.
Jacqueline Mecinas: What new features will Ceuta present at its stand this year?
Enrique Reyes: This year, we highlight that the tax advantages not only apply to gaming operators, but also to technology and dropshipping companies based in Ceuta. We are focused on creating a technology hub, fostering a favourable environment for companies wishing to expand in the world of new technologies.
With these comments, Enrique Reyes underlines Ceuta's crucial role in the international gaming and technology landscape, highlighting its stand at ICE Barcelona 2025 as a key point for the future of the sector.
