SPAIN: President Sánchez announces four phases of de-escalation: Bars and restaurants would open on JUNE 1 at 50% capacity

The President, Pedro Sánchez, has appeared at a press conference to explain the roadmap of the de-escalation, known as "Plan for the Transition towards a new normality".

This plan will have four phases -from zero to three- in which the recovery of economic and social activity will be modulated.

Each of these four stages will take approximately two weeks, so the entire process will last a minimum of six weeks and a maximum of eight. Sánchez has clarified that "there will be no mobility between provinces or islands." The "new normal" would come in late June, when the restrictions will begin to be lifted.

Before, on May 11, the hotels will be able to open, but not the common areas. In addition, public places will be signposted to keep distance. On this date the shopping centers will still be closed. The terraces will open to 30% of their capacity and retail stores may also open.

The Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands will be ahead in the de-escalation phase.

PHASES:
Phase 0: next May 4; Permission to "exercise", some businesses will be opened by appointment and restaurants with food service to take away.

Phase 1 or initial phase: the small business will be reopened "under strict security conditions" and with the exception of the malls. Opening of terraces with a limitation of 30% of capacity, as well as hotels and tourist accommodation "excluding the common areas". Also, "places of worship, limiting their capacity to one third."

Phase 2 or intermediate: bars and restaurants may reopen their interior establishments. In addition, cinemas, theaters and other leisure activities will be reopened "with a capacity limit of one third".

Phase 3 or advanced phase: will be the last of the de-escalation; mobility with a capacity of 50% in commercial activity, with a social distance of two meters. The restoration must also meet these conditions of capacity and social distance.
