Las Vegas: Authorities release new requirements for re-opening (VIDEO)

In Las Vegas, the State Gaming Board has released a set of health and safety measures, including instructions to follow for the re-opening of casinos, although there is no official date set yet.

The published document has specific instructions for casinos and also for those establishments such as convenience stores, supermarkets, bars and restaurants that can have up to 15 machines. In all cases, a specific reopening plan must be submitted at least seven days before the date they expect to open their doors.

For casinos, these are the requirements for re-opening:

  • Occupancy cannot exceed 50% of the limit assigned to each gaming area, by local building and fire codes.
  • Plans should include the distribution process for all hand sanitizers and disinfectants, for both employees and customers.
  • The distribution of slot machines must guarantee an adequate social distance between customers. The instructions recommend that chairs and stools be removed from some machines, so that users do not sit next to each other.
  • Employees have a responsibility to ensure that users do not congregate in groups.
  • Table games have limits to control social distancing: three players per blackjack table, six players per craps table, four players per roulette table and four players per poker table. Casino supervisors and managers will be responsible for ensuring that users do not congregate in groups around the gaming tables.
  • Regular cleaning and disinfection of all gaming areas and objects used in them. The procedure will also be repeated when there is a change of player or employees.
  • Any area where customers queue must have signage indicating the corresponding social distance.
  • Nightclubs must remain closed until further notice.
  • All restaurants and bars must have reduced seating and the social distance between tables and customers must be controlled.
