We learned that last Friday the head of the General Directorate for the Regulation of Gambling met with online gaming operators to communicate the status of the Decree that will regulate advertising and the corresponding deadlines. Mikel Arana explained the guidelines of the text that is already in Brussels, and its implementation is scheduled for October.

The last aim of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs is the protection of the youngest segment, that is why the concern caused by the ONCE Rascas has been expressed at that meeting. Therefore, its advertising will also be stricter. Therefore, "in the final version, the restriction on advertising will be much equalized for public gaming."

The final text will feature the latest allegations from the CNMC, gambler and consumer associations.

One of the new policies to be explored in the medium term is "regulation based on responsible gambling and prevention of match fixing". Thus, the Directorate for the Regulation of Gambling defends that "limitations on advertising will not affect as negatively as the sector proposes."
