Recently, the Gambling Commission has published its Annual Compliance and Enforcement Report for the 2020-2021 financial year, a document that presents the regulator's cases against licensees and also emphasizes the aspects that require a greater effort from the gaming industry.
The Gambling Commission has explained that the work carried out involved the suspension of five operator licenses and the revocation of licenses for one operator and nine personal management license holders. In addition, 15 companies have paid a total of £ 32.1 million as a result of fines or regulatory settlements, a figure that exceeds the revenue of any previous year.
Gambling Commission Chief Executive Andrew Rhodes highlighted “the amount of enforcement work carried out” and reiterates that the “regulations are there for two very good reasons - to protect people and ensure that gambling is crime-free”.
Regarding the infractions detected, Rhodes assures that "The industry has the resources, skills and knowledge to change this".
